What you need to know before you do a Pageant?

There are four things you should do before you do a pageant:

The first thing is that you should do is research about a pageant. This means that you should talk to someone that participated in that particular pageant before and ask them questions. You should also find out if they have a video you can watch and a program book you can look at. This will help you to visualize the pageant before you go.

Second you should make sure you have the right clothes for the pageant. Always go by the guidelines of the Director. You should not try to get by with a dress that you know the judges will not approve of. Make sure everything is according to the guidelines. The clothes that you pick out should meet your expectations and not someone else's. Never wear something that you are not comfortable in because it will show on stage.

Third if there is photogenic competition make sure that you have a picture that looks like you and your age category. Some people have photos that make them look older and like someone else. The picture is very important because that is what the judges see. This is in the same category as hair and make-up. Make sure that you keep the same image through out the pageant with your hair and make-up.

Last but not least you should go to other pageants and watch them and make sure this is what you want to do. Also pay attention to what the judges like. For instance the type of dress or the certain look they are looking for. From here you may decide that you need a coach to help you with the pageant. That is great because you can never get enough help. I had a coach when I went to Miss USA and this is what helped to motivate me and keep me going. Try to get as much advice as you can but make sure that you do what is best for you.

Remember Pageants are like a sport. Every contestant is there for the same reason and that is to win the title. Just make sure that you are a good sport about it and remember you have to be a good competitor to participate in pageants. It is not just about the title it is what you plan on doing with the title once you win. A good Queen is someone that will take the title and make something out of it.
